English Translation

O Allah, I seek Your guidance through Your knowledge, and I seek Your power through Your might, and I ask You from Your immense favor. For indeed, You have power, while I have none; You have knowledge, while I know not; and You are the Knower of the unseen.

O Allah, if You know that this matter is good for me in my religion, my livelihood, and the outcome of my affairs both immediate and in the future then ordain it for me, make it easy for me, and bless it for me.

And if You know that this matter is bad for me in my religion, my livelihood, and the outcome of my affairs both immediate and in the future then turn it away from me, and turn me away from it. And decree for me what is good wherever it may be, and make me pleased with it.

Roman Urdu Translation

Aey Allah, main Tujh se Teri ilm ke zariye hidayat maangta hoon, aur Teri qudrat ke zariye quwwat talab karta hoon, aur Tere azeem fazl se sawal karta hoon. Beshak Tu qudrat rakhta hai aur main qudrat nahi rakhta, Tu ilm rakhta hai aur main nahi jaanta, aur Tu ghaib ko jaanne wala hai.

Aey Allah, agar Tu jaanta hai ke yeh kaam mere liye mere deen, meri zindagi (rozi), aur mere anjaam ke liye, chahe foran ho ya aane wale waqt mein, behtar hai to isay mere liye muqarrar farma de, isay mere liye asaan kar de, aur is mein mere liye barkat ata farma.

Aur agar Tu jaanta hai ke yeh kaam mere liye mere deen, meri zindagi (rozi), aur mere anjaam ke liye, chahe foran ho ya aane wale waqt mein, bura hai to isay mujh se door kar de aur mujhe is se door kar de. Aur mere liye jahan bhi khair ho usay muqarrar farma, aur mujhe us par razi aur mutmain kar de.

Imam Ibn Taymiyyah said that

“That whoever seeks اللّٰہ guidence, consults others, and remains patient in their decisions will never regret it”.

Before Islam, people relied on superstitions like bird omens, astrology, and fortune telling, but Islam taught believers to seek Allah’s wisdom instead.
