ToggleSmart Recycling Machines to Be Installed at Key Locations
Next month, four major universities in Lahore will receive recycling machines developed with Chinese technology. These smart machines are designed to make plastic recycling easy and rewarding for the public. Additional machines will also be installed in markets and shopping areas throughout the city.
Each machine includes two compartments and works as follows:

These credits are immediately displayed on-screen and can also be tracked through a dedicated mobile app.
Earn Cash for Recycling: Rs1,000 for Plastic Bottles
According to company chairman Gulfam Abid, Lahore generates approximately 500 tons of plastic bottle waste daily. The installed machines aim to reduce this environmental burden by recycling single-use plastic into bricks, footpaths, and road repair material.
One of the most attractive features of the programme is the monetary reward:
-
Insert 20 one-and-a-half-liter bottles or
-
40 half-liter bottles
= Earn Rs1,000 in cash, instantly!
Scrap Collectors and Citizens to Benefit Equally
This initiative is not just for regular citizens. Over 18,000 scrap collectors in Lahore are also expected to benefit. They can register via the mobile app, after which the company will collect bottles from their doorstep in exchange for instant cash rewards.
Why This Matters: A Step Towards a Greener Future
The Green Credits Programme reflects a forward-thinking strategy that addresses plastic pollution while incentivizing responsible waste disposal. With a user-friendly app, real-time rewards, and strong government backing, the project aims to make Lahore a model city for sustainable living in Pakistan.
